More about this game
Solo Chess Tactics & Campaign challenges you to find forcing moves and deliver checkmate across a series of tactical puzzles. You can also test your skills in a Skirmish mode, commanding White against an adaptive computer opponent. The campaign features specific goals and a strict two-move limit for each stage, rewarding you with up to three stars based on your efficiency. A run ends when you achieve the objective, exhaust your move budget, or reach a stalemate.
Tips
- Look for forcing moves like checks and captures to limit the opponent's options.
- In the campaign, try to solve the puzzle in the par limit of one move to earn a perfect three-star rating.
- Pay attention to the specific stage objective, as it may require a unique action like capturing the queen rather than a standard checkmate.
FAQ
- What happens if I run out of moves in the campaign?
- If you exceed the two-move limit for a stage, your move budget is spent. You will fail the puzzle and must reset the board to try a different forcing line.
- Can I undo a move if I make a mistake?
- No, there is no undo button provided in the interface. You must carefully plan your moves before committing to them, or use the restart button to begin the puzzle again.
- How does the difficulty work in Skirmish mode?
- The computer opponent has three difficulty levels: Apprentice, Tactician, and Master. Apprentice makes quick replies at depth 1, while Master searches deeper into the position at depth 3 to find much stronger replies.
