More about this game

In Spellbound Checkmate, you face off against an enemy commander on an 8x8 grid. Each turn, choose to move like a rook (up to three tiles) or a knight (an L-shape leap). Collect healing and damage runes scattered across the board to restore health or boost your spell power. Once in range (within two tiles), cast a spell to damage your opponent. The duel ends when either you or the enemy commander's health drops to zero.

Tips

  • Knight movement lets you leap over occupied paths, making it great for escaping tight spots.
  • Collect sapphire runes to add +3 damage to your next spell cast.
  • Healing runes restore 6 health, so grab them when your HP drops below the 24 maximum.

FAQ

How do I attack the enemy?
You can cast a spell when you are within two tiles of the enemy commander. The spell deals 7 base damage if adjacent, or 5 damage if two tiles away.
What do the runes do?
Healing runes restore 6 health points, while damage runes add 3 extra damage to your next spell cast. Runes spawn randomly on empty tiles.
How does the enemy move?
The enemy commander also moves using rook or knight rules, prioritizes collecting runes, and will cast a spell if they get within range of you.
